October always seems to go by way too fast! This fall season was filled with quality family and friend time, apple picking, hiking, all things pumpkin and football. Here is a snapshot of how I spent my October weekends 🙂
October 7th: Oklahoma! I had the pleasure of visiting Abbie at the University of Oklahoma! While she worked with the football team, I was able to hang out with my favorite Sooner fans – Aunt Laura, Uncle Mike and cousin Luke. We conquered college town, explored OKC, and visited the bombing site. Spending the weekend away from work and not having a care in the world was so refreshing!
October 15th: Apple Picking! Niagara County, New York has the finest orchards to ‘pick’ from (pun intended). Fellow RD, Natalie, and I visited Becker Farms for donuts, U-pick apples, and wine tasting. Becker Farms is a beautiful farm, with various family activities to choose from. A must-visit if in the WNY area.
October 21st: Letchworth and MSU game watch! I started the Saturday off bright and early to hike at Letchworth State Park. This is one of the most breathtaking views, overlooking the rolling hills and set of three waterfalls. The fall foliage wasn’t half bad either 😉 The fresh air and 6 mile hike was very eye-opening. I was reminded the importance to get outside, enjoy nature and be removed from social media. Later that day I joined fellow MSU Alum at Hamburg Brewery! The owner of the brewery is an alum and was happy to host a game watch there. It was the perfect way to spend homecoming! And the beer was good 🙂
October 28th: Mitten Smitten. The last weekend in October, I spent celebrating a dear friends bridal shower. Shannon looked absolutely gorgeous and I can’t wait to celebrate her wedding this NYE! Saturday was cold and windy but the fam and I completed the Howl-o-ween Hustle 5k! The dogs in costumes was worth the money of the 5k. And in hopes of completing an Olympic Distance Triathlon in 2018 I purchased a new (to me) road bike! I couldn’t be more excited to start on my training goals for the next season!
Life is all about balance – healthy eating, exercising, socializing, and self-care. I look back on the past month and meditate. I learned a lot about myself this fall season and couldn’t be happier to start of the holidays with a fresh start.
What was your favorite memory this fall?
