❤ Happy Valentines Day ❤ to all you foodies out there! In honor of el día de amor (the day of love), I thought I would write about an experience I truly LOVED. Last week I went to Guatemala on a mission trip with Grace Ministries. As an avid traveler and adventure seeker, I never say no to opportunities to get out of town. I enjoy being immersed into new cultures, seeing new sights, and of course tasting new foods! Here are a few highlights from my trip:
This bowl of guac ❤
Fresh Fruit! Street vendors offer this beautiful variety of options that can be topped with azucar (sugar) or pepitas molidos (ground pumpkin seeds). Que rico!
Traditional Guatemalan clothing: Guipil (shirt) and Corte (skirt). Here I was passing out tortillas to kids at the Feeding Center.
Cute little girl playing in the beans!
I was able to teach a nutrition lesson to kids at the Feeding Center. We learned about building a healthy plate.!
“MiPlato”
Counting vitamins to distribute at the medical clinic
Purchasing fresh produce at the market for the Feeding Center
New foods I tried in Guatemala: atole de maíz, nísperos, hilachas, guicoyitos & tortillas Guatemaltecos
