HEY THERE! Happy National RD Day! What better day than to make a chocolate cake! I have made this recipe multiple times to get it right! I’ve eaten the individual ingredients, I’ve eaten the batter, I’ve eaten it right out of the oven, cold, microwaved, with and with out toppings…needless to say I won’t be making it for awhile! But next time it will AMAZING the first time 🙂
This cake is gluten free and contains 94 grams of protein (whole cake)! No refined sugar, no egg yolks, no oil. Here it goes!
Dry// 1 cup oat flour, 1 scoop choc/PB whey protein blend, 1 scoop Chocolate Fudge Shape Protein for Women, 2 heaping tbsp cinnamon, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp baking powder
Wet// 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup Fairlife chocolate milk, 3/4 cup eggs whites
1.) Prep – process or blend steel cut oats to make a flour, crack yo egg whites! Or use from carton 🙂
2.) Mix Dry and Wet ingredients separately, then combine.
3.) Once mixed, swirl in 2 tbsp pure maple syrup and 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips for a bit of sweetness
4.) Spray bread pan (I used coconut oil spray) and pour in batter. Bake at 350 degrees for about 35-40 minutes.
5.) Top with all natural maple almond butter (AMAZING) and more cinnamon! You can also top with Greek yogurt or other nut butters!
*****Do not expect the cake itself to be sweet, it’s not a boxed brownie! The few chocolate chips and nut butter on top with give it the completeness of a decadent piece of cake, and the texture is on point! If you divide the cake into 5 servings, each will have about 20g protein. As you have probably noticed, I have only been posting desserts on my blog…no I don’t just eat sweets with protein added. However, I enjoy finding ways to get around the guilt and transforming restrictions into better made products that have a place in your daily diet! Eating this way has allowed me to be less restrictive and embrace these types of foods. Food should be fun, and avoiding things you love will just end in a sad binge episode! We have all been there! Transform, embrace and eat dessert! Off to the gym, let’s get this week over with already!
